Cranberries are a Fall crop that regrows every 5 days. Where to buy seeds, when to plant for the most harvests, and whether to sell, brew or dry them.

Cranberries in Stardew Valley are a Fall crop grown from Cranberry Seeds, which cost 240g at Pierre’s General Store. They take 7 days to mature, then regrow every 5 days, giving 2 berries per harvest. Plant them on Fall 1 and you get 5 harvests before the season ends, which makes them one of the best plant-once, pick-all-month crops in the game.

The numbers below come from the Stardew Valley Wiki and apply to version 1.6, the current release as of October 2026.

Where to buy Cranberry Seeds

Pierre’s General Store is the cheapest regular source at 240g each. The Cranberry Seeds page lists every other source too:

  • JojaMart: 300g, so 60g more per seed than Pierre’s.
  • Traveling Cart: only now and then, at 360g to 1,000g. Skip it unless you need seeds outside Fall.
  • Night Market: the Magic Shop Boat sells them for 240g on Winter 17, handy for a winter Greenhouse crop.
  • Seed Maker: drop in a cranberry and you get seeds back, which is how most players stock up for the Greenhouse.
  • Skull Cavern: treasure rooms sometimes hold 5 to 20 seeds.

Selling the seeds back is a bad deal, by the way. They only fetch 60g.

When to plant cranberries in Stardew Valley

Plant on Fall 1. Waiting costs you harvests, and since each seed is a one-time 240g cost, the number of harvests decides how much you make. Crops wither when the season changes after day 28, as the Crops page notes, so the counting stops at Fall 28.

Planted on Harvest days Harvests Base value (2 x 75g each)
Fall 1 8, 13, 18, 23, 28 5 750g
Fall 6 13, 18, 23, 28 4 600g
Fall 11 18, 23, 28 3 450g
Fall 16 23, 28 2 300g
Fall 17 to 21 One day between 24 and 28 1 150g

The cutoff that matters: Fall 16 is the last day to plant and still beat the 240g seed cost at base prices. After Fall 21, the plant won’t mature at all. The extra-berry chance and higher-quality berries add a little on top of these numbers.

Planted on Fall 1, one seed turns 240g into 750g, or about 18.89g per day of growing, which is the example the wiki uses to explain its gold-per-day maths.

Does fertilizer help?

Not much. Quality fertilizers only affect the first berry of each harvest, and Speed-Gro doesn’t shorten the 5-day regrowth. Deluxe Speed-Gro cuts the first growth from 7 days to 5.25, but the wiki points out you still end up with the same number of yields across the season. Save your fertilizer for single-harvest crops and put the money into more seeds instead.

Are cranberries worth it?

Yes, especially in your first Fall. The appeal is labour, not just profit: you plant and water once a month and pick five times. Compare that with a Pumpkin, which takes 13 days and gives a single 320g harvest, so you’d need to replant to use the whole season. Grapes regrow faster (every 3 days) but sell for 80g each and need a trellis.

Cranberries also stack nicely with professions. With Tiller, a normal berry sells for 82g. Keep reading for where the real money is, though.

Raw, wine, jelly or dried?

Product Base price With Artisan
Cranberries (raw, normal) 75g (Tiller: 82g)
Red Jelly (preserves jar) 200g 280g
Red Wine (keg, normal quality) 225g 315g
Red Dried Fruit (dehydrator, 5 berries) 587g 821g

Wine triples the value of every berry, and aged iridium wine reaches 450g base (630g with Artisan). If you’re short on kegs, preserves jars still nearly triple it. The Dehydrator, added in 1.6, needs 5 berries of the same type and quality for one batch and is ready the next morning; five raw cranberries sell for 375g, so 587g of dried fruit is a solid upgrade when your kegs are full. The Dehydrator recipe costs 10,000g at Pierre’s.

Cooking and gifting with cranberries

Hold a few back. Cranberries go into four recipes:

  • Cranberry Sauce: cranberries and sugar. Gives Mining +2 for 3m 30s. The recipe arrives by mail from Gus at 7 hearts.
  • Cranberry Candy: cranberries, an apple and sugar. Learned from The Queen of Sauce on Winter 28 of Year 1. Sells for 175g.
  • Stuffing: bread, cranberries and a hazelnut. Pam mails the recipe at 7 hearts, and Evelyn loves it.
  • Super Meal: grants Max Energy +40 and Speed +1 for 3m 30s.

As a gift, raw cranberries are a safe like for Demetrius, Elliott, Harvey, Jodi, Kent, Leah, Linus, Pam, Robin, Sandy and Shane. Don’t give them to Abigail, Haley, Jas or Vincent, who dislike them. Cranberry Sauce is the better gift for Abigail and Haley, since both like it.

Cranberries aren’t needed for any Community Center bundle or quest, so you can sell or process the whole crop without worrying about holding one back.

Growing cranberries outside Fall

Only in the Greenhouse. The Greenhouse lets any crop grow year-round on its 120 tiles, and multi-harvest crops there keep producing instead of dying. Since cranberries regrow every 5 days for good, a Greenhouse patch keeps paying with no replanting. Fill a few rows with Seed Maker seeds and you have a steady supply of berries for kegs all year.

Frequently asked questions

What is the last day to plant cranberries in Stardew Valley?

Fall 21 is the last day a cranberry plant can mature before the season ends, but it only gives one harvest. Plant by Fall 16 to get two harvests and make back the 240g seed cost.

How much energy do cranberries restore?

A normal-quality cranberry restores 38 energy and 17 health; iridium quality restores 98 energy and 44 health. Cooking them into Cranberry Sauce gives 125 energy.

Can you use cranberries as dye?

Yes. Cranberries count as a red dye at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house, and the sewing machine turns them into dyeable Farmer Pants.

Do cranberries survive into Winter?

No. Cranberries planted outdoors wither when Fall ends after day 28. Only cranberries in the Greenhouse keep producing through Winter.

How many cranberries do you get per harvest?

Two per harvest, with a 10% chance of extra berries. That averages a bit over two per harvest.
