Where the Dam Staff Room is in ARC Raiders, the exact route from the Research and Administration lobby, how to get the key and what players find inside.

The Dam Staff Room Key opens a locked staff room inside the Research and Administration building on Dam Battlegrounds, the large building in the middle of the map next to the Control Tower. Go into the main lobby, find the front desk, and take the hallway on its left; the Staff Room door is on your right. You get the key at random from containers (drawers and cabinets in Research and Administration and the residential areas are the usual tips) or guaranteed once from Shani’s quest The Stench Of Corruption.

Facts below match the ARC Raiders Wiki and current guides as of October 2026. Embark has changed loot and locked rooms in past patches, so expect small differences after future updates.

Where is the Dam Staff Room in ARC Raiders?

It’s on the entry level of Research and Administration, just off the lobby. The ARC Raiders Wiki describes the key as opening “a door in the Research and Administration building,” which matches the in-game item description quoted by MetaForge. The wiki labels it the first floor, while the route guides below all place it on the main or ground floor next to the lobby, so start your search at entrance level.

  1. Head for the centre of Dam Battlegrounds and find the Research and Administration building beside the Control Tower.
  2. Enter the main lobby. It’s a big open room with a central reception desk and lots of seating.
  3. Walk up to the front desk, then take the hallway on the desk’s left side.
  4. Look to your right partway along that hallway. The Staff Room door has a key panel and faces another door that leads west.
  5. Interact with the panel while the key is in your inventory. The door opens and the key is consumed.

That route follows Shacknews’ walkthrough. Mein-MMO puts the door on the east side of the ground floor, past the reception desk, and a player-written Steam Community key guide sums it up as “right behind the main entrance,” so all three point to the same spot near reception.

One source of confusion: GamesFuze gives directions starting from the Control Tower entrance. The two buildings sit side by side, but the Control Tower has its own key (the Dam Control Tower Key). If you’re standing in front of a locked door that your Staff Room Key won’t open, you’re probably at the tower.

How to get the Dam Staff Room Key

There are two ways, and only one of them is reliable.

The quest reward (guaranteed, once)

Shani’s quest The Stench Of Corruption on Spaceport rewards one Dam Staff Room Key, according to both the wiki and MetaForge. It becomes available after A Toxic Trail. You’ll need to do it all in one round:

  • Reach the southwest lobby of the Departure Building and find the staff locker room.
  • Search the room (the Flushing Terminal Key comes from the hazmat suits there).
  • Drop into the tunnels under Spaceport and use that key on any Flushing Terminal.

Besides the key, you get the Warden outfit, an Air Freshener, three Noisemakers and 8,000 XP. Some older listings name Tribute To Toledo as the quest that gives this key. The current wiki page for that quest lists only Magnets, Advanced Mechanical Components and Synthesized Fuel, so don’t count on it.

Random loot (repeatable)

After the quest, every copy comes from scavenging. Guides consistently point to drawers, cabinets and lockers in Research and Administration and in residential buildings, with KeenGamer singling out Research and Admin containers. There’s no fixed spawn, so treat any copy you find as a bonus rather than something you can farm on demand.

What’s inside, and is it worth the trip?

For a green key, players rate it well. Shacknews counted several red valuable lockers, loose loot spawns and a Security Breach locker in the room, and walked out with attachments, a weapon, meds, a Snap Hook and a Jolt Mine blueprint. You can only open that Security Breach locker with the Security Breach skill, which sits on the Conditioning tree according to the wiki skills page. If you haven’t taken it, the locker stays shut but the rest of the room is still yours.

On Steam, opinions on key rooms swing a lot, but this one comes out ahead more than most. In a “So keys aren’t worth?” thread, one player said two pink key doors gave them nothing, while a single green key at the Dam staff room produced a Snap Hook and rare resources. Another player in a thread about Dam key rooms said they had “better luck in the Staff room” than at the tower. Results are random, though; a separate key-room complaint thread is full of players who ran premium rooms several times and left with very little.

Tips players learned the hard way

  • Expect a fight on the way in. Research and Administration is one of the busiest spots on Dam, and Shacknews warns that squads often have to fight just to get near it. Players on Steam also complain that Dam’s best loot is concentrated in the centre of the map, which is exactly where this building sits.
  • Keep the key in your safe pocket. A player in the Dam thread does this so that, if someone else has already opened the room, the key simply goes home for the next raid. Another Steam player points out that a key only costs you space on the way in, since it’s consumed at the door.
  • Close the door behind you. In a thread about being interrupted mid-loot, players recommend a door blocker, barricades or mines at the entrance, since another raider can walk in while you’re busy with lockers.
  • Don’t sell it for pocket change. At 100 Coins, selling makes little sense when the room regularly holds weapons and blueprints.
  • Don’t rely on old tricks. Embark’s patch 1.4.0 notes from November 27, 2025 added exploit mitigation to all locked rooms on every map, so bring the key.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Dam Staff Room Key used up when you open the door?

Yes. Keys in ARC Raiders are single-use, so the Dam Staff Room Key disappears once you open the room and you need another copy for the next raid.

How much is the Dam Staff Room Key worth?

It sells for 100 Coins. That’s low enough that opening the room is almost always a better use of it than selling.

Can you get the Dam Staff Room Key from a quest?

Yes. Shani’s quest The Stench Of Corruption on Spaceport gives one Dam Staff Room Key as a reward, alongside a Warden outfit, an Air Freshener and three Noisemakers.

Is the Dam Staff Room the same as the Control Tower room?

No. The Control Tower has its own Dam Control Tower Key. The staff room sits in the neighbouring Research and Administration building, which is why some guides describe the route from the tower.

What rarity is the Dam Staff Room Key?

It’s an Uncommon (green) key with a weight of 0.25 and a stack size of 1.
