No, Sons of the Forest is not on PS5, and it isn’t on PS4, Xbox or Nintendo Switch either. As of October 2026 it’s a Windows PC game sold on Steam, and Endnight Games hasn’t announced a console version. That also answers the cross-platform question: Sons of the Forest has no crossplay, because every player is on the same PC version.
If you’ve seen a “Sons of the Forest PS5” listing or video, be careful. The only Forest game on PlayStation is the original, The Forest, which is a different (older) game.
Is Sons of the Forest on PS5 at all?
Not as of October 2026. The Steam store page lists 64-bit Windows 10 as the only operating system, and Endnight’s own website links only to Steam for both The Forest and Sons of the Forest. There’s no PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store listing to buy.
The game has been out long enough that this isn’t a “wait a few weeks” situation. Early access started on February 23, 2023, and the full 1.0 release followed on February 22, 2024, according to Steam. Endnight is now working on its next game, so a late console port looks less likely than it did in 2023.
What has Endnight said about a console version?
Endnight has been open to the idea but never committed to it. In a Q&A during early access, quoted by GameSpew in March 2023, the studio said it would be “really excited” to bring the game to PlayStation and possibly Xbox after early access, while stressing it had no firm plans and was focused on the PC version.
Early access ended more than two years ago and that port still hasn’t appeared. German gaming site Mein-MMO added an update in August 2026 saying there was still no news on a console release.
The other signal is Forest 3. Endnight revealed it at The Game Awards in December 2025, and Game Informer noted there was no word on platforms or a release date. As of GamesRadar+’s September 2026 update, that’s still the case, and Endnight’s site lists Forest 3 simply as in development.
Is Sons of the Forest cross platform?
No. Crossplay needs at least two platforms, and Sons of the Forest only exists on one. Co-op works between PC players: up to eight people can share a world, or you can play the whole story alone. If a friend on PS5 or Xbox wants to join you, they’ll need a gaming PC.
The original game is a different story. Sony lists The Forest as a PS4 game that’s also playable on PS5, with online play for up to four players and PS Plus required. Sony’s listing doesn’t mention crossplay with PC, so plan on PlayStation-only sessions there.

Dates come from The Forest and Sons of the Forest entries and the Steam and PlayStation listings. If you mainly want the Forest experience on a PlayStation today, the first game is your only official option. Sony does warn that some PS4 features may be missing when you run it on PS5.

The base price on Steam is $29.99 in the US as of October 2026, and it’s often discounted during Steam sales, so it’s worth wishlisting if you’re not in a hurry.
A Steam Deck isn’t a great substitute. Valve’s compatibility check rates Sons of the Forest Unsupported, flagging graphics performance, even though the game starts up on SteamOS. Treat that as “might run, but don’t buy a Deck for this game.”
